Mayfield Idaho

The historic town of Mayfield Idaho was a regular commuter stop for emigrants and other locals on their drive to Boise after Captain Benjamin Bonneville first came through this part of the Idaho desert in 1833 and named the city of trees, Les Bois. The Hudson Bay Company established the Fort Boise trading post the following year, and emigrants began rumbling along the Oregon Trail, which followed Bonneville's path through the area, less than a decade later. This is a schoolhouse and I believe, the house of the school teacher. Along with the barn and a community hall that was built in 1915, these are the only buildings in this small historic town along the Oregon Trail.
